Copper-pod

Copper-pod is a large handsome tree. Its feathery leaves add beauty to the tree but the profusion of bright yellow flowers on the tree crown and a carpet of fallen blossoms are a wonderful sight during the flowering season. The tree derives it name from the abundant copper-red pods that remain in on the tree for a long time.

Copper-pods have a spreading crown of branches. Leaves (mimosa-like) are deep green and feathery. Copper-pod’s flower has wavy yellow petals, much crinkled about the margins. The buds are copper coloured. The copper-red pods are oblong, flat, very thin and hard. They are narrow at both ends. The seeds within are brown.
